Alrighty folks....8-12" of white shit in the forecast for tomorrow. Been walking past my covered-up Storm for about 3 months, now. So I'm getting a little cabin fever and PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome).

So what the hell!

Make sure you block out the weekend after Memorial Day (same every year), June 1-3 for the 2018 Bennington Triumph Bash!!! I'm really, really hoping we can finally hit 20 Birds this time....so start making your plans now.

Paradise Inn is the best place if you want to be central to the action. There's a small motel or two within a couple minutes walk. For you nature lovers (or cheapskates) there's the same camping grounds east of Bennington on Route 9. Either way, get yourself sorted now!!

I'll be getting there some time early Thursday morning. We'll plan a ride for any of you "early Birds" on Thursday afternoon.

Friday will be a longer day, for those interested, or if the majority rules for a shorter one, I'll set that up too.

Saturday options are plentiful....many short, mid, and long routes of any pace you want. Plus we'll have another "Birds Only" ride if y'all are interested.

We're setting up for another Friday Pig Roast and BBQ in the Paradise Inn parking lot. Plus the ever-popular drunken stroll to/from the golf course clubhouse for Saturday's reception/party!

Any of you nuts passing through the Albany NY area on the way up, let me know. I'll start updating this thread as details firm up.

Sooooo, How many of you booked your rooms already?? If not, you best get on the horn with the Paradise Inn!!

I've got the Pig Roast all set, with some changes based on feedback from last year.

Either way, get over on the forum (link in my "signature") to do your PayPal for the Pig Roast and the reception dinner. I'll be starting to lay out some rides for us all (or you just link up with other rides or "Go Your Own Way").

See y'all in a few months!

Make it 16
Reserved today, but rainy forecast will cancel.
I won't make a 1400 mile round trip to ride in the rain.

The ride may be fun, but in the Great Scheme of things, it really is about the destination! John 3:16

7 isn't too bad. Not very twisty, but not bad, either. If you needed to make tracks, even the Taconic is pretty fun....as long as it's not prime commuting!!! The hardest part is getting out of the NYC/NJ area. You'll be battling something until you get up to about White Plains or so.

Maybe link up with the Philly/PA boys???

I could throw together a few options for you, but maybe your best bet is this link. These guys have some awesome routes for ALL of the Northeast! You can link a few of them together for a hell of a trip up, and a completely different one going back!

I'll give you guys a little tip if you're gonna run that Bear Notch road especially on two wheels and entering it from the Bartlett side.[rte. 302] The first look out ya come to is on the right and is a nice view ,overlooking Rte. 302.There's some rocks there where ya can sit or just stand and admire that view. But when ya first get there, give a listen. If ya hear birds singing, you're OK! But if ya don't and it's real quiet, pay attention, cause that means there's a predator [usually a bear or a cat] in the area.I've driven that road on my bike[s] 100 times over the years and one tiime when we stopped there,[and not that long ago] it got really quiet.Suddenly,a rather large Black Bear came out of the up side [hill] of that road ,moving towards us in an aggressive manor and I had to let a warning shot go to spoke him.Otherwise one or more of us could have been his bowel movement in the morning. So just beware. Of all the roads I've traveled on in the area, that's the only one where I've seen this happen. So a word to the wise should be sufficent!! Dave!!!

I plan on attending this year. I plan on riding up Thursday, May 31st and coming back to PA on Sunday. Still not sure whether to hotel it or camp?
I usually just end up camping with the bonnie/thruxton/scrambler guys. See you all in June.

Just to be clear.....IT WILL RAIN!! Either on the way there, one of the rides while in VT, or on the way home!! But we haven't had full blown washout DURING the bash since the year I brought my wife (which is also why she doesn't come along any more!!!!!!!)!

Gear up for it. "Soak" it in! And come have a blast!

Jamie

PS - of course, I only have a 40-45min ride to Bennington!!

You must have disrespected your ancestors to have that kind of bad luck. I do remember the ride back and the wet arse i had for 4 1/2 hours last time up. As VA said, rain will be a no show.
I think with the past rain the odds will be in favor.
Ain't that right VA? This is the year to set the record for birds

Right. I'm really looking forward to it. I should be bringing my brother with me. He's got a Fatboy, but I assured him he'd soon see the error of his ways if he brought that. I had it at my house over the winter doing some work on it and told him that when I rode it that it handled as good as my truck, but the truck was easier to push around the garage.
I'll bring my Tiger 955i and we may switch off.
I'm not saying that a "chance of rain" will keep me away, but a wahsout of a forecast will. It's just not that fun and a 1400 mile round trip to get there had better be...

VA
I certainly wouldn't mind if he brought the HD.
Let him bring it, I want to see it. That's pretty funny about the bike truck and garage. Yes no wash out. Hope to see you two there.

I was gonna let him ride my T-Bird, and I ride my Tiger. He's a bit short legged for the Tiger.
But if nobody cares if he brings a HD, I may give him the option.

Yes VA
That's his pride and joy, let him be himself.
Maybe he will let me take it for a ride. I would like to see you do the garage parking exercise with it.

If we miss the "record" for Tbird count by 1 Bird, we'll have no choice but to toss you and that HD into the pool, then!!!

But no matter what he/you ride, the more the merrier. Of course a lot merrier on a TRIUMPH!!!

Hahah...that was actually meant for VABird.....but we can toss you in, too, if you're too dry!!!!!

See you all there!!!

Jamie

PS - I'll start setting up some tentative rides for the weekend, soon, and post them here with a bit of a "POLL" on distance/directional preferences, etc. But if you're definitely coming, make sure you have your rooms sorted, and get over to that Armchair Commando link so that you can send in your paypal for the Pig Roast BBQ on Friday, and the Reception Dinner on Saturday! We need those head counts in order to make sure we have seats and food!!!

Well, if he brings his HD, it'll be the Tiger that doesn't make it, not the Bird, so don't worry!

Okay guys and gals.....if you're joining us for this year's Bash, please make sure to get over to the website and register/pay for your Pig Roast and Saturday Dinners in advance! I need to start sizing the pig, and right now we only have 35 paid in full! So that's a piglet not a PIG!

See y'all in a few weeks!!!

When is the official count taking place? Not sure about staying overnight (since we are running a B&B which is busy on weekends) but I want to at least stop in and say Hi, since I am now located in nearby New Hampshire!

Anyone interested in riding out to Brattleboro thursday evening? Are there any rides planned for Friday morning - 6/1?

The official count usually takes place on Saturday morning, because while a bunch of us ride out together all day, a bunch usually break off to do their own thing. We shoot for 8-830 am, sometimes pushing 9am. If u can swing only one night, come out Friday and head home Saturday after a ride??? Peel off of one of the easterly rides and you'll nearly be home!!!
